Anna Mac Clarke (1919-1944) didn't put up with second
class treatment from anybody, including the U. S. Army. By insisting on
fair treatment, and becoming the first black Women's Army Corps officer
to command a white unit, young Lt. Clarke struck a powerful blow for racial
equality in the military.

to the Duncan Center Museum and Art Gallery. The Duncan house is one of
the most splendid buildings in Muhlenberg County, designed by Joesph &
Joesph Architects of Louisville in 1911 and listed on the National Register
of Historic Places. The Duncan House has rich architectural and historical
significance and serves as the cultural Center of Muhlenberg County. The
Duncan Center was a very special gift from Hamilton Richardson Duncan
Sr., to the City of Greenville in 1986. Hamilton is the grandson of William
Graham Duncan, Muhlenberg Coal Barron and builder of the house in 1912.
The Duncan House became Muhlenberg County’s first historical museum
and art gallery when it officially opened in 1989.
The Duncan Center houses an enormous history collection and hosts an array
of art exhibits and events throughout the year with a purpose of preserving
the art, history and culture of Muhlenberg County and Kentucky.
